      Though I was born and raised in North Carolina, I have traveled to all 50 states and several other countries.  After graduating from college in Minnesota, I was a survival instructor in the Air Force for four years.  I taught in public schools in Washington for 17 years and a community college for 2 years.  My wife, Marcia,  and I owned and operated an RV park in North Carolina for seven years.  We lived in Queensland, Australia for a year while I was on a teaching exchange.  We also spent three weeks in Japan as part of an exchange program I coordinated for a high school.  We studied Spanish in Costa Rica, and got more practice when we were assistant managers at a guest ranch in southwest Texas.  We have lived and worked in the Columbia Gorge area from Vancouver to Glenwood for over 20 years.  Though we love to travel, we call the Columbia Gorge home now.
