Tucked away into a crescent shore midway between Seattle and Tacoma sits the waterland community of Des Moines. At a certain magical point when venturing from its wooded plateau, the sky opens and the land falls away. Revealed are the blue waters of Puget Sound meeting that wide open sky. This grand sweep is framed by Mt. Rainier and the Olympics, punctuated with emerald isles & distant peninsulas
Des Moines' centerpiece is created through the adjacent attractions of marina, fishing pier, and lovely beach front park. The marina complex is a popular spot for major outdoor events like the Spring Boat Fair, the annual Waterland Festival, and the Nibble of Des Moines.
Aside from its magnificent setting, the town itself offers its own quiet charm. Park the car to experience Des Moines, and its appeal will become apparent. Take a stroll through the marina, along the beach, then up the street for a bite to eat. A true neighborhood exits within the borders of Des Moines/ Walkers, joggers, & sunset lovers abound in this pedestrian friendly little town.
