Overturf Butte is located on Bend's westside, just off Mt. Washington Drive and Simpson Avenue. The community is close to trails and outside activities, and yet still close to everything Bend's westside has to offer. 

Overturf Butte was named after James Overturf, who worked as an officer manager for Alexander Drake's development company. James' wife, Ruth Reid Overturf, was Bend's first school principal. Nearby is the sign commemerating the US Forest Service fire lookout tower that used to stand at the Overturf Butte Lookout.
