There is plenty to enjoy in Philomath. Spend some time visiting the Benton County Historical Museum or an afternoon enjoying the Mary’s River at the Mary’s River Park. A quick drive and hike up Mary’s Peak allows breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the Willamette Valley. If you are looking for an urban experience, Philomath is only 45 miles from Eugene and 85 miles to Portland.
Residents or visitors to Philomath can take advantage of many of the town’s local events. The Philomath Frolic & Rodeo is held the second weekend in July. The event includes a kick-off barbeque, craft fairs, carnival, parade, and plenty of other local activities.
The Quilt County event has been held every other year since 1991 and you can participate in many events during the month of September. The Quilt County event is for quilters and quilt lovers, and incorporates the history and future of quilting.
Philomath is also a community that gives back. Local churches sponsor an annual Day of Blessing each August, providing free clothing, household items, school supplies, and much more to those in need.
