Medina was first established in 1891 and was first called Dabney Point after the man who first settled there, Mr. T.L. Dabney. After continuous arguments between Dabney and a woman, Mrs. Flora Beloti, who was one of the three women selected to pick a final name for the area, "Medeena” was the final name. Later the name evolved into Medina and the community continued to grow into one of the most well-known and prestigious neighborhoods in Washington.

Medina was officially incorporated into a city in 1955. The incredible views that overlook Lake Washington, Mt. Rainier, and the Seattle skyline make this a dream location for home buyers.

In 1920, James Clapp developed the magnificent Overlake Golf and Country Club. Today, Overlake is a private course that is considered one of the top golf courses in Washington.

The Bellevue School District provides an outstanding range of schools. These include Bellevue Christian School (k-12), Medina Elementary(k-5), St. Thomas School(preschool-6), Eastside Catholic(6-12), and more.

Medina is home to 9.75 acres of parks and 7.65 miles of sidewalks. Residents enjoy going for a run through neighborhood or into downtown Bellevue, walking their dogs, or riding bikes down to the Medina local market. Many of the parks are located on Lake Washington where families enjoy throwing the Frisbee or relaxing by the water.
