The Highlands

The Highlands, conveniently located on Seattle's northern boundary adjacent to the Seattle Golf Club, is just minutes from all the city has to offer.

Originally laid out in 1907 by the Olmstead Brothers, this nearly 400-acre community consists of just 112 lots with 66 acres set aside as reservation or park property. Following the Olmstead tradition of incorporating tranquility and privacy, most homes are screened from the road and each other with an average lot size of two acres.

Community residents share a five-acre park complete with tennis courts, croquet field, swimming and wading pools, bathhouses, and a play field. The community preschool, one of the best in the region, was gifted by a founding family in 1922. Near the school is a non-denominational chapel of Scottish design. The chapel was donated to the community in 1911 by an early resident in memory of his daughter. The chapel's stained-glass windows were designed by Charles J. Connick whose work is also in two New York cathedrals, St. Patrick's and St. John the Divine.
