Shelton

Shelton is located at the tip of Puget Sound, nestled between the Olympic Mountains and Hood Canal. Within a two-hour drive of the Pacific Ocean or the city lights of Seattle, Shelton has something for everyone. The largest and only incorporated city in Mason County, Shelton also serves as the county seat.

Located only 25 minutes from our State Capital in Olympia, Shelton’s economy is very diversified with government jobs, shellfish harvesting, forestry products, new retail centers, and real estate activity. For years it has been known as “Christmas Town USA,” as Shelton is one of the largest producers of Christmas trees.

With a population of over 9,000, Shelton is known for it’s natural beauty and friendly neighborhoods. Its allure is enhanced by more than a dozen restaurants, bookstores, art galleries, a bakery, gift shops, more than 20 churches, city parks, playing fields, year-round recreational programs managed by the city, the Olympic College, a movie theater, and a drive-in theater.

Recreation is abundant with world-class scuba diving in Hood Canal, shellfish galore in Puget Sound, hiking, fishing, boating, kayaking, hunting, golfing, snow skiing, water skiing, camping, back packing, or anything else you can think of that involves lakes, salt water, mountains or oceans.

The Shelton Visitor Center, a red caboose located on Railroad Avenue, is a historic site. The Chamber office is directly across the street.
