Evergreen is located about five miles east of downtown Vancouver. The majority of the homes were built in the 1970s in several subdivisions. The community is large and developed for residential, commercial, and agricultural uses.

Located along Mill Plain Boulevard are many thriving businesses such as restaurants, shops, and hotels as well as Joe's Place Farms on NE 112th Ave. There is a water tower within this neighborhood community serving most of the east side of Vancouver. Other services within the area includes Firstenburg Community Center, churches, an ambulance service, fire station, police precinct, and a C-TRAN Park and Ride.
