West Orchards

West Orchards was originally called Fourth Plain because it was the fourth opening in the forest counting up from the river. Since the Fourth Plain covers a large area, area residents wanted a name that would identify them alone. There were great tracts of fruit trees there, so they chose the name Orchards, in 1904.

West Orchards is home to the Westfield Shopping Center (a/k/a Vancouver Mall) and Club Green Meadows, an athletic club and golf course.

There are numerous restaurants, including Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, Red Robin, Olive Garden, IHOP, and other fast food, around the mall.
